Carpenters Nursery

Knowing we we going away at the end of May we purposely held back from sowing too many seeds, some things we will be done now for harvesting later in the season and everything else will be supplemented from the excellent stock at Carpenters Nursery a small independent a few miles north of St Albans.

I say small but really they stock everything you might need plant wise as well as all the sundries.

And a full range of fresh vegetables, fruit and eggs.

We came away with Little Gem lettuces, mixed salad leaves, more peas and butternut squash.

A proper little independent nursery where they grow their own. We did choose the worst day to visit and don’t expect tea/coffee and a bit of a bun or a bacon roll, its not that sort of place. But depending on the direction you are coming from and you don’t get lost!! the dahlia coffee house at Aylett’s is an oasis for the horticultural thirsty adventurer…D

A good nursery like that is well worth knowing about, especially when it comes when a recommendation like this. xx

Carpenters is 90 – Sandridge is 900+ and if you go on a bit further in to the village you will find several places to get refreshments of all kinds! Do come again.
