The Break In

I have to confess to feeling a bit sad.  Earlier today we received an e mail from Dai, one of our committee members, telling us that there had been a break in at the site.

The thieves used bolt cutters to cut through the locks on the Ruislip gate and forced the lock on the side door of the communal equipment shed.  The strimmers and the chain saws were taken.  They also cut the locks on a number of plot holders’ sheds.  No spades or forks were taken so it seems that they were after any power tools that were easily transportable and I guess easy to sell on.

I don’t suppose that they are worth very much financially, they were old and well used, but as a community of allotmenteers they meant a lot to us.

As I said, feeling sad.

We get break ins from time to time at our allotments. They take power tools and any metal they can sell. They break into sheds but don’t take tools. It is very sad. The allotments are police patrolled and we have allotment watch meetings with the community police. We still get broken into though
